Oranie-Person-Chaitham Mental Health Area Board <br /> State law (NC O.S. 122-35.39 (2)) now requires two licensed physicians to serve on <br /> the Board. At present there is one. Since compliance with this requirement will <br /> be noted in a review of standards by the N. C. Division of Mental Health November <br /> and 4, 1983, action by the Board of Commissioners to make the appointment November <br /> 1983 is urged. <br /> See attached thter of Area Director William F. Baxter, Jr. , recommending appointm <br /> of Dr. David RI Clemmons, Associate Professor of Medicine, School of Medicine, UNC <br /> 2. Social Services Board <br /> The term of membership for the Board of ComMissioner's representative on the DSS <br /> Board has expired (Commissioner Marshall was serving out the unexpired term of for <br /> Commissioner Barnes.) The Board needs to re-appoint its representative for anothE <br /> term. 1 <br /> 3. Chapel Hill Bbarid of Adjustment - COunty Alternate <br /> Mr. Bob Peoples has resigned as the County alternate to the Chapel Hill Board of <br /> Adjustment. The Board needs to appoint a replacement to complete his term which <br /> expires on June 30, 1985. <br /> 4. Child Care COundil <br /> The Board at it's October 3, 1983 meeting approved establishment of a Council to, <br /> among other things, look at how to create a department, integrate the money avail. <br /> from State and private sources and map out goals and objectives. <br /> Solicitation of nominations has been by means of advertising (November 1 and 6) <br /> and letters requesting nominations from the University, Memorial Hospital , and <br /> Chambers of Commerce. Names will be ready for consideration at the November 15 <br /> meeting. If Board Members desire further means to solicit nominations, guidance <br /> should be given to staff at the November 7, 1983 meeting. <br /> 1 <br /> 5. Health Board I <br /> , - I <br /> Recent actionlby the State Legislature increases the size of local boards of heal <br /> from 9 to 11 by requiring, effective January 1 , 1984, the addition of one optometr <br /> and one veterinarian. These positions are currently being advertised. If Board <br /> members desire further means to solicit nominations, guidance should be given to <br /> . staff at the November 7, 1983 meeting. <br />
