Due to a proposed development along the road <br /> whieb is subject to the requirement that the developer widen and <br /> curb and gutter the road, the Department of Transportation requested that <br /> the fUnds allocated be deleted from this year's improbvpmett_program and <br /> transferred to Old NC 10(SR 1710)to address the poor road condition <br /> resuling from the industrial truck traffic generated by the concrete <br /> plant. <br /> NCDOT 'officials had received numerous complaints about the condition of t <br /> road during the year and had determined Old NC 10 to be a good Candidate <br /> improvement. NCDOT allocation of funds for road improvements to paved ro. <br /> based on need not priority; therefore, when the Erwin Road allocation beci <br /> available and corresponded with the funding needs for Old NC 10, DOT recd <br /> the funding transfer to Old NC 10. <br /> IMPACT: The approval of the request would result in the transfer of the $26,000 <br /> appropriation from Erwin Road to Old NC a0. <br /> Utili4tion of the funds for improvement of Old NC 10 would substantially <br /> addreSs the concerns of the local residents and users of Old NC 10 about <br /> road damage due to the trucking activities associated with the concrete <br /> plant' <br />
