Cheshire, Jr.
Mayor of the Town of Hillsborough
Post Office Box 429
Hillsborough; North Carolina 27278
Dear Mayor Cheshire:
Re: Water System Extensions
Town of Hillsborough
Orange County
03-68-015
I am in receipt of your written request for a 60-day time extension
1
in order for engineers to gather information and complete the submission
of plans and specifications for water system extensions not in compliance
with North Carolina General Statute 130-166.45.
Your retquest for a 60-day time extension is denied. However, we will
grant a 30-day extension. It is felt that 90 days total time is ample time
for your engineers to submit the water system expansions. If they do not
have time Or this work, I suggest you retain engineers who do have the time.
The latest date for plan submission is now established at November 23, 1983.
If the mentioned submissions are not made by this date, I will recommend
legal proceedings be initiated.
I mustlpoint out that all of the previously discussed unauthorized
water system expansions are not at this time approved, and there can be no
new connecti_ons (residential, commercial, industrial, or otherwise) to these
areas not approved. I must insist that any new request for water service to
any of the water system extensions not having approved plans and specifi-
cations froM the North Carolina Department of Human Resources, be denied.
By copy of this letter, I am soliciting the cooperation of all permitting
agencies to advise us of requests for permits related to eventual requests
for water service, so that we can advise them of a time delay on water servicE
