oa <br /> EXISTING LAND USE PLAN <br /> The Orange County Land Use Plan was adopted by the Board of County <br /> Commissioners in September, 1981 . The adopted Land Use Plan contains <br /> land use goals and policies for the county, as well as designates land <br /> use plan cetegories for development applicable county-wide. <br /> The following land use plan categories are designated for the study area: <br /> Urban. Land that is within the corporate limits of the <br /> Town and, therefore, under the jurisdiction of <br /> the Land Use Plan for the Town of Hillsborough. <br /> Ten Year Transition, Land located in areas that are in <br /> the process of changing from rural to urban, that <br /> are suitable for urban-type densities and should <br /> be provided with public utilities and services <br /> within the first 10 year phase of the Plan. <br /> Twenty Year Transition. Land located in areas that are <br /> in the process of changing from rural to urban, <br /> that are suitable for urban type densities and <br /> should be provided with public utilities and <br /> services within the second 10 year phase of <br /> the Plan. <br /> Rural Residential . Land in the rural areas of the County <br /> which is appropriate for low intensity and low- <br /> density residential development and which would <br /> not be dependent on urban services during the <br /> plan period. <br /> Agricultural Residential . Land in the rural areas where <br /> the prevailing land use activities are related to <br /> the land (agriculture, forestry) and which is <br /> an appropriate location for the continuation of <br /> these uses. <br /> kA' Commercial Transition Activity Node. Land focused on des- <br /> ? ignated road intersections within either a 10 Year <br /> or 20 Year Transistion area that is appropriate for <br /> retail and other 6ommercial uses. <br /> kc- <br /> Public Interest Area. Land which contains public or quasi- <br /> public uses such as publicly owned land, research <br /> forests or known archaeological or historical sites. <br />
