06 <br /> NATURAL RESOURCES AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT <br /> STATE-LOCAL ACTION AGENDA <br /> FALLS AND JORDAN WATERSHEDS <br /> OCTOBER 7, 1983 <br /> A, A-II CLASSIFIC4TION FOR DRINKING WATER <br /> 1 • <br /> Concerns have been raised regarding the classification of <br /> Falls and Jordan Iles A-II to allow them to be used for drinking <br /> water. This concern is focused on toxics and synthetic organic <br /> chemicals. <br /> 1 . STATE ACTION <br /> NRCD recommend that: <br /> a. The A-II classification be approved by the Environmental <br /> Management Commission for both lakes. <br /> b. Withdrawals for drinking wtaer purposes from Jordan <br /> not be I approved until it has been determined that the <br /> water is safe to drink with respect to toxics and synthetic <br /> organic chemicals. <br /> c. NRCD 111 conduct necessary research, analysis and <br /> monitoring to determine quality for water supply. <br /> 2. LOCAL ACTION <br /> NRCD recommend that: <br /> a, Munici alities critically review their industrial <br /> pre-treatment programs to determine their effectiveness in <br /> contra ling toxics and synthetic organic chemicals. <br />
