Their
proposal contained several specific reconmendations. Specifically, they aske :
1) If the concepts (recommendations of in-stream flow and conservation)
were reasonable.
2) For a response from Hillsborough and Orange-Alamance as to their
wrilingness to enter into agreements with the County regarding imple-
mentation of their proposal for managing releases from Lake Orange.
3) FOr an indication of the willingness of Hillsborough and Orange-Alamance
tO decide on a long-term allocation formula for the release of water
'|""' Lake Orange in the event of new, or limited, water resources.
Further, Mr. John Wray, Deputy Director of OWR, indicated that more refined
recommendations could be made if more accurate use-data for Hillsborough and
Orangn+Uamunce could b e obtained, and an accurate stage-storage profile for
Lake Orange was developed.
IMPACT: The draft proposal 1s attached. Pertinent points are:
l) Table 1 and underlying assumptions
al Orange-Alamance withdrawal is closer to 0.5 MGD rather than-
1 0.38 MGD.
bl Hillsborough withdrawal is greater than 1.1 MGD, thus the
I daily transfer to OWASA ranges from 1.4 - 1.6 MGD rather
' than an average of 1.65 MGD.
2) - Lake Orange stage-storage curve is tentative and needs
to verified. It was reported at the October 3 meeting that Lake
Orange was down four feet. Referral to Figure 1 indicates that the
Lake is already down to 64% of capacity.
3) The storage capacity of Cnrporhtihn Lake (72 Acre-feet) and Lake Ben
~ »nsnn (73 Acre-feet) are relatively insignificant when composed t u
o capacity of Lake Orange (1394 Acre-feet).
--- |
