If the animal has <br /> identification,I the Animal Control Shelter shall attempt to notify the owner or <br /> keeper before disposing of such animal. <br /> Sep' tion XTV. It shall be unlawful and is a violation of this ordinance <br /> for any animal owner, keeper or other person to fail to comply with the Laws of <br /> North Carolina relating to the control of rabies. <br /> Sec I tion XVI. Hospitals, clinics and other premises operated by <br /> licensed veterinarians for the care and treatment of animals are exempt from the <br /> 5 <br /> provisions of this ordinance except for the provisions relating to cruelty to <br /> animals and efabies control. <br /> Section XVII. The following penalties shall pertain to violations of <br /> - this ordinanceL <br /> A. The violation of any provision of this ordinance shall be a <br /> g misdemeanor and any person convicted of such violation shall be punishable as <br /> provided in G.S. 14-4. Each day's violation of this ordinance is a separate <br /> LI offense. Paym I ent of a fine imposed in criminal proceedings pursuant to this <br /> 0 subsection des not relieve a person of his liability for taxes or fees imposed <br /> under this ordinance. <br /> 8 B. Enforcement of this ordinance may be by appropriate equitable <br /> remedy, injunction or order of abatement issuing from a court of competent <br /> jurisdiction pursuant to G.S. 153A-123 (d) and (e). <br /> C.
