by whatever means may be necessary. In the event the owner or keeper of the <br /> animal or animals is unknown and cannot be ascertained, the notice and order, <br /> along with a general description of the animal or animals shall be posted for <br /> forty-eight (48)-hours at the Animal Control Shelter and the county courthouse. <br /> D. If after forty-eight (48) hours of the date of receipt by the owner <br /> or keeper of the notice the nuisance is not abated, the animal creating the <br /> nuisance shall be impounded. Any stray may be impounded immediately upon the <br /> Health Director's determination that it is creating a nuisance as defined in this <br /> 5 <br /> ordinance. After seven (7) calendar days of impoundment, the Shelter may allow <br /> the animal to be adopted or humanely destroyed according to its procedures. <br /> Section XIII. It shall be unlawful for any person knowingly and <br /> :0 intentionally to harbor, feed, keep in possession by confinement, or otherwise, any <br /> dog that does not belong to him, unless he has, within seventy-two (72) hours <br /> (.7 <br /> g from the time such dog came into his possession, notified an Animal, Control <br /> Officer. <br /> A. Any animal which appears to be lost, stray or unwanted, not <br /> 5 wearing a currently valid tax tag or a currently valid rabies vaccination tag as <br /> required by state law or this ordinance, or not under restraint in violation of this <br /> 8 ordinance, may be seized, impounded, and confined in a humane manner in the <br /> Animal Control Shelter and thereafter disposed of pursuant to procedures of the <br /> Animal Control Shelter. <br /> B. Impoundment of such an animal shall not relieve the owner or <br /> keeper thereof from any penalty which may be imposed for violation of this <br /> ordinance. <br /> C. Any animal seized and impounded which is badly wounded or <br /> diseased (not a rabies suspect), and has no identification may be destroyed <br />
