C. <br /> 27278 <br /> RICHARD E WHITTED,Clair <br /> BEN LLOYD <br /> SHIRLEY E.MARSHALL <br /> NORMAN WALKER <br /> DON WILLHO1T <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> ESTABLISHING THE 0111,1CIAL ROAD NAMES <br /> FOR THE <br /> STATE-MAINTAINED SECONDARY ROAD SYSTEM IN ORANGE COUNTY <br /> WHEREAS, G.S. 1136-18(8) authorizes the Board of Transportation "to give suitable <br /> names, to State Highways and change the names as determined by the Board <br /> of Tilansportation of any highways that shall become part of the State <br /> System of Highways"; and <br /> WHEREAS, G.S. 153A-240 authorizes a county to name or rename any public road; and, <br /> WHEREAS, a county cannot change the name of a state maintained road unless agreed <br /> to by the Board of Transportation; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County has -participated in the Governor's Highway Safety Program for <br /> the purchase of road name signs and has approved official road names for <br /> Orange County as shown on the June 1982 Orange County Road Map; <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE 1T RESOLVED, by the Board of Commissioners of Orange County: <br /> MAT, the Board of County Conrnissioners requests the Board of Transportation <br /> to approve- the County approved names for the state-maintained secondary <br /> roads as the official road names for the roads on the state system in <br /> Orange County, <br /> THAT, this Resolution takes effect upon passage, thiS 6th day <br /> of Iseptemba <br /> 193. <br /> /45‘" - 4g2101" <br /> Signed by: <br /> Chairman o the Bo-■ • of o' 'ssion7: s <br /> F <br /> Attest:›410M-4_, aiLeg-idetteti <br /> Clerk to the Board of Commissioners/. <br />
