If the animal has <br /> 1 <br /> ' <br /> identification, the Animal Control Shelter shall attempt to notify the owner or <br /> keeper before disposing of such animal. <br /> Section XIV. It shall be unlawful and is a violation of this ordinance <br /> ; <br /> for any ani* owner, keeper or other person to fail to comply with the laws of <br /> North Caro lip la relating to the control of rabies. <br /> I <br /> Section XVI. Hospitals, clinics and other premises operated by <br /> 1 <br /> licensed veterinarians for the care and treatment of animals are exempt from the <br /> 5 <br /> 1- <br /> provisions of 1 this ordinance except for the provisions relating to cruelty to <br /> animals and Fables control. <br /> Section XVII. The following penalties shall pertain to violations of <br /> i <br /> i <br /> x this ordinance. <br /> 0 1 <br /> Ai The violation of any provision of this ordinance shall be a <br /> §' <br /> 0 i <br /> g misdemeanor and any person convicted of such violation shall be punishable as <br /> g I <br /> ° provided in G.S. 14-4. Each day's violation of this ordinance is a separate <br /> z <br /> offense. Payment of a fine imposed in criminal proceedings pursuant to this <br /> ! <br /> 0 1 <br /> g subsection does not relieve a person of his liability for taxes or fees imposed <br /> I <br /> : under this ordinance. <br /> ! I <br /> 8 B. ; Enforcement of this ordinance may be by appropriate equitable <br /> remedy, injunction or order of abatement issuing from a court of competent <br /> jurisdiction pursuant to G.S. 153A-123 (d) and (e). <br /> I I <br /> C. In addition to and not in lieu of the criminal penalties and other <br /> sanctions provided in this ordinance, a violation of this ordinance may also <br /> i <br /> subject the offender to the civil penalties hereinafter set forth. <br /> I <br /> 1. Such civil penalties may be recovered by Orange County in a <br /> civil action in the nature of debt or may be collected in such other manner as <br /> 1 i <br /> 1 <br /> I <br />
