.7Y-01.;4 '••■• ! <br /> , <br /> 080 <br /> ADDENDUM 3 <br /> 4 . 2 . 26 RESERVED <br /> *4 . 2 . 27 Protected Watershed II (PW-II District <br /> a) Intent <br /> It is the intent of Orange County to regulate the <br /> uses of land and structures in watersheds which <br /> drain to reservoirs supplying drinking: water7to*--the <br /> people of Orange County . The quality of water in <br /> these water supply watersheds can be affected by <br /> the activities of man including farming , construc- <br /> tion of hignways and rural subdivisions and the <br /> &Amended <br /> 7/6/92 growth of towns and industrial development . Types <br /> of water pollutants resulting from these activities <br /> include sediment , bacterial contamination, heavy <br /> metals , synthetic organic compounds and low-level <br /> radioactivity. A Task force appointed by the County <br /> Commissioners has studied the problems of water <br /> pollution . They have documented their findings jn a <br /> report entitled Report of the Orange County Water <br /> Resources Task Force and dated May, 1981 . That <br /> statement of problems and needs is included by refer- <br /> ence . The intent of the Protected Watershed II <br /> (PW-II) district is to apply a set of regulations <br /> for watershed protection to portions of water-supply <br /> watersheds in the Countr which are presently mostly <br /> undeveloped and where* it is desireahl to maintain <br /> the rural undeveloped character of the watershed in <br /> the future . • <br /> b) Application Criteria <br /> The Protected Watershed II (PW-II) district is <br /> established as a district which overlays other <br /> zoning districts established in this ordinance. <br /> The new use of any land or any new structure with- <br /> in the Protected Watershed II ( PW-II) district <br /> shall comply with use regulations applicabLe to the <br /> underlying zoning district as well as the require- <br /> ments of the PW-II district . <br /> 1 . This district will be applied to the University <br /> Lake and Cane Creek watersheds designated in <br /> the Land Use Plan . <br />
