� ^ _ Pg.25 EXISTING LAND0SE PLAN The Orange Land Use Plan was adopted by the Board of County Commissioners lin September, 1981 . The adopted Land Use Plan contains land use goal and policies for the county, as well as designates land use plan cetegories for development applicable county-wide. The following land use plan cetegories are designated for the study area: Urben, Land that is within the corporate limits of the Tiown and, therefore, under the jurisdiction of the Land Use Plan for the Town of Hillsborough. Ten Year lir ransition. Land located in areas that are in the process of changing from rural to urban, that are suitable for urban-type densities and should be provided with public utilities and services within the first 10 year phase of the Plan. Twenty Year Transition. Land located in areas that are ih the process of changing from rural to urban, that are suitable for urban type densities and should be provided with public utilities and srvices within the second 10 year phase of the Plan. Rural ReOdential . Land in the rural areas of the County which is appropriate for low intensity and low- 6 slty residential development and which would not be dependent on urban services during the plan period. Agricultural Residential . Land in the rural areas where the prevailing land use activities are related to the land (agriculture, forestry) and which is an appropriate location for the continuation of these uses. Commercia Transition Activity Node. Land focused on des- ignated road intersections within either a 10 Year 20 Year Transistion area that is appropriate for retail and other commercial uses, Public Interest Area. Land which contains public or quas\- 6lic uses such as publicly owned land, research forests or known archaeological or historical sites .
