13' <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> I BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS Action Agenda <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT Item N3.&14' <br /> MEETING DATE A n <br /> Subject: Noise Ordinance <br /> Depa.rtment: County Manager 1 Public Hearing: • _ ye's + no <br /> Atte,chrrent s Information Contact: <br /> Yes Orange County flanager's Office <br /> Phone Number: 732-8181 ext.. 501 <br /> PURPOSE: For the Board to adopt, on second reading, an ordinance to regulate <br /> noise in Orange County. <br /> NEED: Numerous citizens have requested that the County adopt a Noise Ordinance <br /> to control amplified sound when it creates a disturbance in adjoining <br /> neighborhoods. <br /> On July 5L 1983, the Board approved a first readinn of the proposed ordinance. <br /> A second reading is required for the Ordinance to become law. <br /> IMPACT: The Ordinance establishes permissible levels of sound which cannot be exceeded <br /> unless a permit is obtained from the County. <br /> Certain activities are specified in the Ordinance as being exempt from the <br /> permissible levels of sound. <br /> Enforcement of the Ordinance will be the responsibility of the Sheriff's <br /> Department: The Sheriff has concurred in the measures specified.
