, . . . •.- • <br /> RESOLUTION NAMING THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> AS THE CHIEF ELECTED OFFICIAL FOR THE COUNTY FOR THE PURPOSES OF THE <br /> JOB TRAINING PARTNERSHIP ACT <br /> RESOLUTIO N <br /> WHEREAS , 1THE United States Congress enacted the Job Training <br /> Partnership Act in order to provide job training and employment oppor- <br /> tunities for economically disadvantaged and unemployed persons ; and <br /> WHEREASOunder the Act units of local government are encouraged <br /> to form consoWa to carry out employment and training services ; and <br /> WHEREAS , Ithe Board of County Commissioners of Orange County at <br /> its meeting on the day of , 1983 passed a resolu- <br /> to enter into a consortium with the City of Durham and the Counties <br /> of Chatham and Durham for the purposes of implementing the Job <br /> Training Partnership Act; and <br /> WHEREAS , the Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners of <br /> Orange County acting on the authority of said resolution has <br /> executed a consortium contract with said other units of local <br /> government; and <br /> WHEREAS , the State of North Carolina has requested that each <br /> unit of local government involved in a Job Training Partnership Act <br /> consortium name one of its elected officials as its "Chief Elected <br /> Official " for the purposes of the program and that such "Chief <br /> Elected Official " have signatory authority, including the authority <br /> to sign the consortium agreement and make representations on which <br /> the Private Industry Council and the administrative entity of the <br /> Service Delivery Area and the State ean rely; <br /> THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Chairman of the Board of <br /> County Commissioners of Orange County by virtue of his office <br /> is hereby named as the "Chief Elected Official " for the stated <br /> purposes of the Job Training Partnership Act. <br /> 1 <br />
