ORANGE COUNTY 001 <br /> BOARD OF CX)MMISSIONEFS Action Agenda <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT Item No. C <br /> MEETING DATE July 5-, 1983 <br /> Subject: Proposed Minimum Housing Code for Orange County <br /> Irepartment: fnunty Manager I Public Hearing:* yes X no <br /> Attachment(s): Information-Contact: <br /> Yes Orange County Manager's Office <br /> Phone Number: 73?-8181 pxt. 501_ <br /> PURPOSE: For the Board to consider a minimum housing code whose purpose is to improve <br /> housing conditions in renter-occupied dwellings in Orange County. <br /> NEED: The proposed code is the product of a sub-committee convened by the Orange <br /> County Human Services Advisory Commission (HSAC). <br /> On May 25, 1983, the HSAC discussed the proposed code and voted to send it <br /> forth to the Board of Comissioners with the recommendation that: <br /> 1) it be adopted as a concept paper <br /> 2) it be referred to the County Manager for further fine-tuning <br /> IMPACT: The code establishes minimum standards for renter-occupied housing in <br /> Orange County including structural conditions, plumbing, heating, elec- <br /> trical equipment, ventilation, maintenance and the like. <br /> Enforcement of the code is proposed to be the responsibility of the <br /> Building Inspector.
