452 <br /> 5 <br /> There was some discussion for an additional worker for the Department of <br /> Social Services at $14,500. <br /> Bonner Gifford, Chairman of the Board for the Fire Department clarified the <br /> need for equipment as proposed, and he noted that there is too big a dependence <br /> on the Chapel Hill Fire Department for their resources. <br /> Commissioner Whitted stated that the two Fire Chiefs have met and decided <br /> they would prefer the funds for the air truck come out of the general fund <br /> rather than the fire tax fund. <br /> Commissioner Whitted asked for added discussion relating to the markup <br /> list. He noted that there should be some discussion about the long-term <br /> capital for schools. He stated that the long range programs cannot be funded <br /> this year. It was clarified that the additional $200,000 for school capital <br /> would be divided equally between the two systems. <br /> Commissioner Whitted stated that if a cash flow problem occurs in the fall <br /> of 1983, the release of capital funds can be scheduled to solve this problem. <br /> Commissioner Whitted stated that a public hearing was scheduled for Monday, <br /> June 27, 1983 in the county's Superior Courtroom in Hillsborough. Items on the <br /> agenda will include a rezoning request, the airport issue and the 1983-1984 <br /> budget. <br /> With no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was <br /> adjourned. <br /> Richard E.
