1 <br /> Attachment <br /> 4 .2 . 261 RESERVED <br /> 1 <br /> *4 . 2 .271 Protected Watershed II (PW-II District <br /> a) Intent <br /> It is the intent of Orange County to regulate the <br /> uses of land and structures in watersheds which <br /> I drain to reservoirs supplying. <br /> 1 people of Orange County. The quality of water in <br /> these water supply watersheds can be affected by <br /> the activities of man including farming, construc- <br /> *Amended I tion of highways and rural subdivisions and the <br /> 7/6/82 growth of towns and industrial development. Types <br /> of water pollutants resulting from these activities <br /> include sediment, bacterial contamination, heavy <br /> metals, synthetic organic compounds and low-level <br /> radioactivity. A Task force appointed by the County <br /> Commissioners has studied the problems of water <br /> pollution. They have documented their findings in a <br /> report entitled Report of the Orange County Water <br /> 1 Resources Task Force and dated May, 1981 . That <br /> statement of problems and needs is included by refer- <br /> ence. The intent of the Protected Watershed II <br /> (PW-II) district is to apply a set of regulations <br /> for watershed protection to portions of water-supply <br /> watersheds in the Countr which are presently mostly <br /> undeveloped and where- it is desireable to maintain <br /> the rural undeveloped character of the watershed in <br /> the future . <br /> b) Application Criteria <br /> 1 <br /> The Protected Watershed II (PW-II) district is <br /> ' established as a district which overlays other <br /> zoning districts established in this ordinance. <br /> The new use of any land or any new structure with- <br /> lin the Protected Watershed /I (PW-II) district <br /> shall comply with use regulations applicable to the <br /> Iunderlying zoning district as well as the require- <br /> ments of the PW-II district. <br /> ,l. This district will be applied to the University <br /> 1 Lake and Cane Creek watersheds designated in <br /> the Land Use Plan. <br /> 1 <br /> 1 <br />
