At its meetiilg on Auggst 23, 1932, the Board Of Cammissionere took the following action on the reccrmendations in the.Report. 1. Orange Clounty should adopt a policy which rP11..t; for minimizing total 1 ! outflows:of water from one major basin to another. . adopted S/23/82 , . : 2. Orange County Should allocate the water it has rights over in Lake Orange to the Tom of Hillsborough, the OrenV-A/armance Water Systems incorporated, and the in-stream flaw new of the Eno Myer. Orange County Should develop policies requiring water conservation in both the receiving and withdrawal basins Where interbasin trans- fers of water are required to meet emergency situations. 1 adopted e123/62 . 4. The Task Force Report has identified five prime reservoir sites in the County. Local water suppliers should identify which of these sites they would like preserved for future use. The County and • water suppliers Should work togettemto imp-lama means of protecting and preserving these sites for future use. - The Board Mfodlied this reccmmendation to include three additional reser- voir sitesj They were sites 1? and 16 on Table 11 of the Repert (p.31) and site 14 on Table 12 (p.33). adopted 8/23/82 5. Orange. County should investigate the feasibility of a regional solution to itsifuture water needs. As part of that effort, Orange County should . reserve a portion of the water allocation fron Jordan Lake as a long term option far :later supply. the Board did not officially adopt this mittc=r2rdati0ri since it had acted positively* it in making an informal request to the Office of Water Resources for Jordan Lake water. 6. Crangp County Should promote efforts to conserve water. adopted 6/23/62 7. Crenge i County should adopt a Land Use Plan which identifies protected water !supply watersheds. These protected areas Should be University Lake watershed, Upper Eno watershed which drains to Lake Ben Johnson, and the watershed of prceosed Cane Creek reservoir. i 1 The BCCC had acted previously on this recormendation when it adopted the Land Use Plan on September 6, 1962. . 8. Orange County should adopt a Land Use Plan and associated regulations whichipreserve and enhance water quality in protected watersheds.
