ry
I Any one of these four matters constitutes a major
change in the permit, and certainly all, four together must require
reapplication and review. We ask that the planning board, the s.
Board of Commissioners , and the county attorney consider again
whether or not this collection of requests in fact constitutes
an attempt on the part of the developers to short circuit the
procedures prescribed under our Zoning Law.
I On the points at hand:
First, on the developers ' request that they be
freed up from the condition that they control the 5,000-foot
approach and Ideparture fans at either end of the runway, we ask
that you deny their request and maintain the condition. We bey-
lieve that you made this part of the permit in order to keep
another Horace Williams Airport situation from developing, and
because our Zoning Law requires FAA standards . We ask that you
examine the runway-obstacle free-and approach zone plans to de-
termine whether or not Midway's current plan is in accord with
State and County law.
We believe the Buck Mountain Developers have made
a weak attempt to obtain the air flyover easements. We are not
a community, las the developers have pictured it, of junkyards,
convenience stores , bars and unflappable "moo-cows". Not surprisingly,
after treating us to several years of a condescending, cavalier
attitude, almost no one in the community was willing to live them
these easements. As best we can tell, they have spent only their
attorney's time and postage. If they intend to inflict this
community, and especially those whose properties lie in the flight
lines in and out of this airport, with the constant harassment of
-2..
