Whitted
128 West Union Street
Hillsborough, North Carolina 27278
Dear Commissioner Whitted:
This letter is in regard to the vacantcafeterizi at Cedar Grove Multipurpose Centor
The Board of Directors of the Cedar Grove Day Care Center would like to express our
need to have use (4 this facility.
Presently, we are catering our lunches from Orange County Schools at $1.00
per lunch. This necessitates traveling eighteen miles daily to pick up lunches from
Efland-Cheeks School. When the school close for summer vacation we will have to
prepare our lunchds in the classrooms. Our classrooms are not equipped to handle
this therefore forcing us to contract with Chapel Hill-Carrboro Schools for the
summer. Cedar Grove Day Care is a small program with few financial resources. The
driving distance to Chapel Hill each day (approximately 40 miles) creates several
financial burdens. The money and time used for travel could he used for other
equipment and progromming needed to main[ain thv of d:iy care we provide to
low inc )11I3 rural , working familiei; .
Cedar Grove DO CaLe is a Full year term program needing the use oF this kitchen
which would afford us the convenience of feeding our children without relying on
other food services. We will work cooperatively with any other program using this
facility.
Your attention in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
,r1
Nancy Tapp, Director
Cedar Grove Day Care Center
• aki Green, President
Board of Directors for Cedar Crove Day
Care Center
cc: All County Commissioners
Ken Thompson, County Manager
