WHITTED, Chair of the Board <br /> Phone NuMber:732-8181 ext. 505 <br /> - <br /> PURPOSE: To consider appointing members to this Commission. <br /> NEED: The Orange County Board of Commissioners adopted the Resolution establishing <br /> the Orange County Economic Development Commission on December 14, 1982. <br /> According to the Resolution, the Commission shall be composed of nine members: <br /> one each recommended from the Towns of Carrboro, Chapel Hill, Hillsborough and <br /> Mebane; one recommended from the two Chambers of Commerce in the County; and <br /> the remaining four members directly from the Board of Commissioners. Of those <br /> four County 4ppoinreeS one must serve on the Industrial Facilities and Pollution <br /> Control Bonding Authority. <br /> The recommended appointees from the Towns and Chambers are: <br /> Carrboro—lorman Weatherly <br /> Chapel Hill--Dennis Howell <br /> Hillsborough—Fred Cates <br /> Mebane--H.R. Hupman, Sr. <br /> Chambers of Commerce--Richard K. Sharpless <br /> The Board of Commissioners has completed its review process and has narrowed <br /> its selection to nine candidates. They are: <br /> Ed Bergman JOhn Gastineau <br /> Moses Careyi, Jr. George Johnson <br /> Pat Crawford Peggy McCarthy <br /> Turner Forrest John McKee <br /> Elaine Parker <br /> Of these nine, both Mr. Bergman and Mr. Gastineau are also members of the <br /> Industrial Authority. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: The Board should appoint members to the Orange County Eronomir <br />
