The recommendation of RONAC was based on the <br /> section number designation and visual inspection of county maps rather than an <br /> on-site inspection. <br /> Subsequently, fire and emergency personnel experienced difficulty in responding to <br /> calls for assistance because local residents still referred to that section of <br /> road as Damascus Church Road rather than the new Poythress Road. Local residents <br /> became concerned and submitted a petition to RONAC, requesting that the name <br /> be changed back to Damascus Church Road. <br /> In July of. 1q82, RONAC recommended changing the northern portion of Poythress Road <br /> back to Damascus Church Road and naming the southern portion of Poythress Road to <br /> Meachum Road to match up with the name assigned to the same road in Chatham County <br /> RONAC suggested holding off on a public hearing until other road name changes <br /> were requested and several could be considered at one time. <br /> IMPACT: Changing the road names as proposed would address the concerns of local <br /> residents as well as resolve those problems being experienced by fire and <br /> emergency personnel. <br /> G.S. 153A-249 requires that a public hearing be held and that a notice <br /> identifying the time, place and subject matter of the hearing be posted in at <br /> lash thre.a 61) nlorac olnInr, rho .s.-^oA(c) n4- 1,n,h lin\ <br />
