06(4 <br /> --21:11-4-47 4 <br /> r 3 <br /> / r <br /> ANIMAL CONTROL ORDINANCE <br /> PURPOSE <br /> The purposes of this ordinance are (1) to control those public <br /> nuisances that are created as a result of the animal population in <br /> Orange County, (2) to eliminate the abuse, cruelty, and abandonment <br /> of animals in Orange County, (3) to restate an annual privilege <br /> license tax program for dogs in Orange County. <br /> DEFINITION OF TERMS <br /> (a) Animal - Any live, vertebrate creature specificially in- <br /> cluding but not limited to dogs, cats, farm animals, birds, fish <br /> and reptiles. <br /> (b) Owner - Any person, group of persons, firm, partnership, <br /> or corporation owning, keeping, having charge of, sheltering, <br /> feeding, harboring, or taking care of any animal . The owner is <br /> responsible for the care, actions, and behavior of his animal. <br /> For the purposes of this ordinance, an animal shall be deemed to <br /> be harbored if it is fed or sheltered for five consecutive days <br /> or more. <br /> (c) Person - Any indiiridual„ partnership, firm, joint stock <br /> company, corporation, association, trust, estate, or other legal <br /> entity. - - <br /> (d) Public Nuisance - Any dog or group of dogs which: <br /> (1) repeatedly and uncontrollably chases, snaps at, attacks, <br /> or barks at Diril-,m <br />
