............. <br /> 006 <br /> • <br /> • <br /> ORANGE COUNTY DEPARTMENT ON AGING <br /> SENIOR CITIZENS' HALL OF FAME <br /> AWARD PROCEDURE <br /> PURPOSE: <br /> . To honor and recognize Older Adults for outstanding community <br /> service in Orange County. <br /> To emphasize the importance and variety of older adult's con- <br /> tribution toward making the community a better place in which to live. <br /> To promote the continued involvement of older adults and to <br /> • • provide inspiration to others . <br /> SPECIFIC AWARDS GIVEN TO THE WINNERS: <br /> (1) Membership Certificate to the Orange County <br /> Senior Citizens' Hall of Fame. <br /> (2) An Awards Presentation with County Commissioners, <br /> Senior Citizens Board and Department on Aging <br /> Staff. <br /> (3) Special Donated Gifts from Local Merchants. <br /> (4) A Framed Picture of Themselves along with a <br /> Description of Their Contribution would be per- <br /> manently hung in the Senior Center as a Member <br /> of the Senior Citizens ' Hall of Fame. <br /> RULES: <br /> I. Nominations will be accepted for retired senior citizens who <br /> are at least 60 years of age, currently living in Orange <br /> County, and maintain a residence here at least 75% of <br /> the time, <br /> 2. Nominations may be amde by any church, club, group or <br /> individual in Orange County as often as a deserving <br /> • senior citizen is identified. <br /> PROCEDURES: <br /> i <br /> • <br /> The Senior Citizens ' Hall of Fame Board of Judges will meet <br /> quarterly to select one or more deserving persons to be honored <br /> with the Award for the upcoming quarter. The winners will be <br /> selected from the submitted nomination forms . Selected winners <br /> will be notified to appear at the First Monday Meeting of the <br /> Orange County Commissioners on a specified month to receive their <br /> Award. A story with pictures will be carried in the NEWS of Oranoe, <br /> Chapel Hill Newspaper, and the Department on Aging's Orange Senior <br /> Times . <br /> SECURING AND SUBMITTING NOMINATION -FORMS: <br /> Securing forms - a supply of forms, will be mailed to major <br /> agencies and groups at the first of June of each year for their <br /> use in making nominations throughout the year.
