<br /> NEED: As a result of the 1980 census, the Durham urbanized area was extended to

<br /> include the Towns- of Chapel Mil and Carrboro and two portions of Orange
<br /> County. Federal law requires an ongoing transportation planning process for
<br /> urbanized areas over 50,000 persons. Due to the census change, the Towns of
<br /> Chapel Hill and Carrboro and Orange County are to be included in the process
<br /> at currently specified in a 1975 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) through
<br /> which was established a Transportation Advisory Canadttee (TAC) responsible
<br /> ,
<br /> fOr transportation planning in the urbanized area.
<br /> By official action on December 114, 1982 Chairman Witted was appointed to
<br /> serve as the Board's representative on the TAO.
