2 <br /> Emergency Services Department <br /> 2. The Emergency Services Department has received the following additional revenues: <br /> • Donations — the department has received a donation of $5,000 from the estate <br /> of a resident to be used for the department. The funds will be used to purchase <br /> additional supplies. <br /> • FEMA Reimbursement — the department has received $9,441 in <br /> reimbursement funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency <br /> (FEMA) for costs incurred during a deployment to Robeson County for <br /> Hurricane Matthew recovery efforts. These funds will be used to cover the <br /> actual costs incurred for that event. <br /> • Everbridge Mass Notification System — the department has received <br /> $16,636 from the Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro and Orange Water and <br /> Sewer Authority (OWASA) for their respective shares of the Everbridge Mass <br /> Notification System. <br /> This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds in FY 2016-17. <br /> (See Attachment 1, column 2) <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goals are <br /> applicable to this agenda item: <br /> • GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior <br /> injuries, gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> • GOAL: FOSTER A COMMUNITY CULTURE THAT REJECTS OPPRESSION <br /> AND INEQUITY <br /> The fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race <br /> or color; religious or philosophical beliefs; sex, gender or sexual orientation; <br /> national origin or ethnic background; age; military service; disability; and <br /> familial, residential or economic status. <br /> Health Department <br /> 3. The Health Department has received an additional $15,000 from the North Carolina <br /> Division of Public Health to fund the costs of a contract Audiologist for Orange <br /> County. <br /> This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these additional funds in FY 2016-17. <br /> (See Attachment 1, column 3) <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is <br /> applicable to this agenda item: <br /> • GOAL: ENSURE ECONOMIC SELF-SUFFICIENCY <br /> The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding <br /> necessary for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for <br /> themselves and their dependents. <br />
