046 <br /> APPENDIX A <br /> STANDARDS FOR PRIMARY AND SECONDARY ENCLOSURES <br /> OF WILD OR VICIOUS ANIMALS <br /> This appexxd.ix specifies minimu m standards For the construction of primary - <br /> and secondary enclosures which are to be used to keep, harbor or restrain wild <br /> or vicious animals. If, because of the breeding, history, character, or other <br /> particular trai1t, it is the opinion of. the Animal Control Officer that these <br /> standards are insufficient to restrain any wild or vicious animal he shall <br /> report such findings to the Sheriff and County Manager, and issue no permits <br /> until standards sufficient to restrain the animal are developed and adopted <br /> by the County Commissioners. <br /> 1. Prima Enclosures used to keep, harbor, or restrain the following <br /> animals shall be constructed with the materials and in the manner specified. <br /> a. Tigers. Tigers of any species shall be housed within a <br /> primary enclosure which has at a minimum 600 square feet per animal. There <br /> shall be no more than one male and two females per primary enclosure. The <br /> enclosure shall be constructed of not smaller than nine guage steal chain <br /> link fence attached to not smaller than 2 1/2 inch diemoter, schedule 40 <br /> steel poles placed at least 30 inches in the ground. The poles shall be of <br /> sufficient long h to extend at: least twelve (12) feet above the ground and no <br /> more than ten (10) feet apart. In the event the cage has a roof constructed <br /> of the same mat rial as required for the sides, then it shall be at least <br /> 8 feet tall and the poles shall be spaced no more than 8 feet apart. All <br /> fencing and poi s shall be anchored in concrete. Cages with roofs as above <br /> referred to shall be at least 15 feet wide and 30 feet long per animal. <br /> There shall be no common fences between enclosures housing tigers anchor <br /> any other animal . If adult male tigers are placed in adjacent enclosures <br /> these enclosures shall be constructed of no smaller than nine guage steel <br />
