03 J <br /> AN ORDINANCE <br /> REGULATING THE KEEPING OF WILD AND VICIOUS <br /> ANIMALS WITHIN CHATHAM COUNTY <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Chatham County has been approached <br /> by citizens of M ronies Church Community of Chatham County concerning recent <br /> disturbances invoolvin wild ' <br /> g end vicious animals. <br /> AND WHEREAS the Board of Commissioners is concerned for the safety and <br /> welfare of all of the citizens of Chatham County and desires to enact an <br /> ordinance regulating the keeping of wild animals in Chatham County pursuant to <br /> Article 6 of Chapter 153A of the General Statutes of North Carolina. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF CHATHAM <br /> COUNTY as follows: <br /> Section 1, Definitions. As used hereinafter, the following terms shall mean: <br /> a. Horner: Any person, firm or corporation who keeps, has charge of, <br /> shelters, feeds, harbors, or takes care of any wild or vicious animal in Chatham <br /> County. <br /> b. Permittee: Any individual who has been granted a permit to keep, <br /> shelter, feed, harbor, or take care of any wild or vicious animal in Chatham County.Y <br /> c. Primary Enclosure: Any metal building, wire cage or pen or similar <br /> enclosure designed and used for the purpose of restraining and confining any animal, <br /> the keeping of which is regulated by this ordinance. All such enclosures shall be <br /> constructed and maintained according to the standards set out in the appendix of <br /> this ordinance entitled "Standards for Primary and Secondary Enclosures of Wild <br /> or Vicious Animals' . <br /> d. Secondary Enclosure: An enclosure which is not used for primary <br /> confinement, exercse of wild or vicious animals or training.
