1 (lc <br /> MINUTES <br /> JANUARY 18, 1983 <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, <br /> January 18, 1983, at 7:30 P.M. in the Courtroom of the Old Post Office Building <br /> in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. <br /> Commissioners present: Chairman Richard E. Whitted and Commissioners Ben <br /> Lloyd, Shirley E. Marshall, Norman Walker and Don Willhoit. <br /> A. BOARD COMMENTS <br /> Commissioner Whitted added two items to the agenda, both dealing with pro- <br /> posed local legislation. Commissioner Lloyd announced that a local newspaper had <br /> incorrectly reported his comments on meeting once a month in Chapel Hill; he said <br /> he is in favor of meeting in Chapel Hill. <br /> 3. AUDIENCE COMMENTS <br /> Commissioner Whitted said that he knew there were several people in the <br /> audience who wished to address the Board about items on the agenda and they <br /> would be given that opportunity during the course of the evening. <br /> Chapel Hill Councilmember Jonathan Howes welcomed the Commissioners to <br /> Chapel Hill on behalf of the Council; Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce <br /> President John Morgan welcomed the Commissioners to Chapel Hill on behalf of <br /> the Chamber. <br /> C. PUBLIC HEARING: PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT ROLLS--MACE ROAD AND DUMONT <br /> DRIVE PARTICIPATORY PAVING <br /> MACE ROAD: Ms. Susan Smith, Planning Department, told the Board that all <br /> participants were in favor of the project for Mace Road. <br /> Commissioner 'Willhoit moved, seconded by Commissioner Marshall, approval <br /> of the Final Assessment Roll for Mace Road Participatory Paving at 7:36 P.M. <br /> Vote: Ayes, 5; noes, O. (All documents relating to the Assessment Roll for <br /> Mace Road may be found on pagesJ‘,$'31,71 of this book.) <br /> DUMONT DRIVE: Ms. Smith made two corrections in the Assessment Roll for <br /> Dumont Drive. The first is an error in the names of Jack Patterson by and <br /> Gladys C. Loy who are listed as Jake Patterson Loy and Gladys Patterson on <br /> the Assessment Roll as prepared from the Tax Listing. The second is an error on <br /> the tax maps of one of the lots owned by Mr. John H. McInnis showing 1001rapre than <br /> actually exists on Mr.Mclnniss plat. Ms. Smith said the County Commissioners could <br /> do one of two things regarding this error: 1) readvertise and reassess the ind- <br />
