This <br /> modeling componenet will, be provided on Saturday mornings (8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) <br /> with the children and parents at the daycare center. The center, in a <br /> county-owned building, has indicated in writing its-willingness to participate <br /> in the project. Transportation to and from the center and lunch will be <br /> provided. The modeling component will, focus on reinforcing appropriate parenting <br /> Iby demonstration or role-playing, The modeling of new behavior by daycare <br /> workers, trifled by project staff and hired consultants, clarifies the steps <br /> involved in managing the child's behavior and allows parents to observe the . <br /> effects of the new skill in a real-life situation. <br /> The didactic parent education-volunteer group will have the parent education <br /> instruction and role-modeling perforMed by volunteer parent aides. These <br /> volunteers will be recruited from churches and volunteer groups and organizations <br /> located in thl communities of the parent enrolled in the research and <br /> demonstration project. These-volunteers will be selected from among mature <br /> individuals wfth a reputation as "successful" parents. In addition, they must <br /> demonstrate to the project staff that they are caring, sensitive, and accepting. <br /> These volunteers will be trained by project staff and consultants and will <br /> meet periodically with staff to discuss techniques, problems and procedures. <br /> Parent aides ill be expected to spend four hours a week with their clients and <br /> to document t ,eir hours in 4 diary. <br /> At the c mpletion_of ten weeks, data will be collected on the parents <br /> assigned to t e three conditions.
