Amt <br /> EXHIBIT B-8 <br /> FY 84 <br /> ASSURANCE OF COMPLIANCE WITH SECTION 504 OF THE <br /> REHABILITATION ACT OF 1973, AS AMENDED <br /> The undersigned (hereafter, "we") agrees to comply with Section 504 <br /> of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (29 U.S.C. 794) , and with <br /> requirements contained in applicable HEW regulations (45 C.F.R. 84). <br /> Though we will not make a survey of identifiable barriers to the <br /> handicapped in the programs listed below, we do promise to follow a olio <br /> of nondiscrimination against the handicapped" in providing or contracting <br /> for these services. If we find that present services or facilities provided <br /> by this agency or of those with whom we contract do discriminate against <br /> the handicapped, we promise, (1 ) first, to try to remedy the situation; <br /> (2) second, to contract with another provider that does not discriminate; <br /> or (3) thud, if an alternative provider is not available or feasible, to <br /> find a comparable service for the handicapped person. If the last course <br /> (3) is choslen, we shall take steps to ensure that no additional costs are <br /> incurred b the handicapped person and that the service is both equally <br /> effective, ffords equal opportunity, and does not segregate the handicapped <br /> such that t ey are in a more restrictive setting than nonhandicapped receiving <br /> the same se vice. <br /> 1 <br /> The purpose oT this agreement is to ensure that all services and <br /> facilities obtained from contracts made through local service agencies are <br /> readily accessible to and usable by handicapped persons. <br /> !
