i <br /> JOINT PLANNING AGREEMENT <br /> DRAFT <br /> December 28, 1981 <br /> (undistributed) <br /> January 25, 1982 <br /> February I, 1982 <br /> February 21, 1982 <br /> April 28, 1982 <br /> November I8, 1982 <br /> January 12, 1983 <br /> THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this the _ day of <br /> 198 , by, between and among the COUNTY OF ORANGE, a political subdivision <br /> of the State of North Carolina, THE TOWN OF CHAPEL HILL, and TOWN OF <br /> CARRBORO, municipal corporations duly created and existing under the laws of <br /> North Carolina, hereinafter for convenience referred to as a whole as <br /> "Governmental Units"; <br /> WITNESSETFI: <br /> In consideration of the public benefits expected to flow from the cooperative <br /> efforts of the Governmental Units as the result of the establishment of <br /> coordinated and comprehensive planning within their respective areas of public <br /> concern, the parties of this Agreement hereby mutually agree as follows: <br /> ARTICLE 1. PURPOSE AND DEFINITION <br /> SECTION L1 PURPOSE OF THE AGREEMENT. <br /> The purpose of this agreement is to establish a method of coordinated and <br /> comprehensive planning in the Orange County-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Joint Planning <br /> Area (hereinafter referred to as the Joint Planning Area) as delineated on the <br /> adopted Orange County Land Use Plan Map. This Agreement is intended as an <br /> administrative agreement and procedure for the mutual cooperation of the parties <br /> in dealing with the subject matter. <br /> SECTION 1.2 DEFINITION OF THE JOINT PLANNING AREA. <br /> The Orange County Land Use Plan Map delineates the boundaries and the specific <br /> planning designations of the Joint Planning Area. The map, as it exists now and <br /> as it may be amended from time to time is incorporated herein by reference and <br /> merle a part of this Agreement. <br /> SECTION 1.3 CREATION OF THE JOINT PLANNING PROCESS. <br /> There is hereby established a joint planning process for the review and <br /> managment of land development in the Joint Planning Area. <br /> ARTICLE 2. MUTUAL ADOPTION OF STANDARDS <br /> SECTION 2.1 MUTUAL ADOPTION OF THE JOINT PLANNING AREA LAND USE <br />
