Carrboro's Planning jurisdiction. <br /> In 1980, Carrboro became concerned with the possible degradation of water quality" <br /> in University Lake due to hon-point sources of pollution. A watershed <br /> task for was appointed to recommend measures to reduce non.-.point source <br /> pollution, and in November, 1982, the Water Quality Task Force Report was <br /> completed. . <br /> In conjunction with an on-going local review process, the Carrboro <br /> Board of Jldermen have asked the Orange County Board of Commissioners to <br /> provide its comments and recommendations on the report. This request <br /> is primarily due to Orange'Count'y's present and proposed expanded role <br /> in admini tering erosion control standards in Carrboro as well as`the County. <br /> I CT: The propos d watershed Protection plan for University Lake includes <br /> the following elements <br /> 1. Provision of natural buffers <br /> 2. Sedimentation and erosion control <br /> 3. Zoning regulation <br /> 4. Stormwater management <br /> 5. Clustefing development <br /> The waters ed protection plan employs the same natural buffer <br /> y f er <br /> concept thit the County has adopted; i.e., to reduce runoff <br /> velocity and to filter out pollutants.
