.,. 009 <br /> 7 <br /> AMENDED RESOLUTION <br /> PERTAINING TO REGISTRATION OF <br /> rON-DOMESTIC, WILD ANIMALS IN ORANGE COUNTY, N. C. <br /> WHEREAS, Sections 153A-151 and 153A-153 of the N. C. General Statutes <br /> authorize counties to restrict or regulate the possession or harboring of animals <br /> which are dange ous to persons or property; and, <br /> WHEREAS, any p olicy prepared for Orange County concerning the regulation <br /> and/or restrict'on of wild, non-domesticated animals should reflect the incidence <br /> of such animals in the County; and, <br /> WHEREAS, accurate information is needed concerning the location, number <br /> and species of 1/gild, non-domesticated animals in Orange County, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Commissioners of Orange <br /> County that: <br /> 1 . All persons, firms or corporations residing and/or operating within <br /> Oran County shall register, within 21 days of the adoption of this <br /> 9 Y g <br /> Resolution, all wild animals in their possession with the Orange County <br /> Health Department, 300 West Tryon Street, Hillsborough, N. C. The <br /> number, species name (common and biological ) , and location of the <br /> anima's, as well as the owner or possessor's name and address must be <br /> provided. The only exception to this requirement shall be animals <br /> used for teaching and/or research purposes at the University of <br /> North Carolina at Chapel Hill . <br /> 2. "Wild Animals", for the purposes of this Resolution applies to species <br /> of animals not traditionally considered domesticated, specifically, <br /> all felines (other than the domestic house cat) , nonhuman primates, <br /> bears wolves, coyotes, reptiles (poisonous, crushing, and giant) , <br /> and ay crossbreed of such animals which have similar characteristics <br /> of the animals specified herein. <br />
