• <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> ENDORSING THE CONTINUATION OF GENERAL REVENUE SHARING <br /> WHEREAS, Genital Revenue Sharing is a vital program for local <br /> governments because it distributes fundel to be spent on <br /> local priorities, a -d the discretion of local <br /> officials; and <br /> WHEREAS, General, Revenue Sharing is among the most efficient of <br /> fed+ral grant programs, with administrative costs of <br /> approximately one percent; and <br /> WHEREAS, theicurrent General Revenue Sharing program is scheduled <br /> to expire on September 30, 1983; and <br /> WHEREAS, the National Association of iCounties has designated renewal <br /> of revenue sharing as its first legislative priority in 1983; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the federal share of support of federally mandated proAgrams <br /> has decreased under the Reagan administration; and <br /> WHEREAS, further :Increases in property taxes due to abdication of <br /> responsibility by the administration should not continue; <br /> THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, thafthe Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> supports legislation for the renewal of revenue sharing <br /> air urge that4 revenue sharing allocations be increased <br /> -,----- <br /> to reflect increased program costs due to Inflation. <br /> BE IT FURTHER p.ES©LVED, that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> u ge5that General. Revenue Sharing be deatt with on its own <br /> program merits in an expeditious manner and not be delryed <br /> by the consideration of other proposals. <br /> • <br />
