Secondary enclosures shall serve as a perimeter <br /> fence surrounding all primary enclosures except those for reptiles. <br /> The secondary enclosure shall be provided in order to protect the <br /> public and the animal(s) by restricting public accessibility to the <br /> primary enclosures. <br /> a. Construction Standards. All secondary enclosures shall be con- <br /> st ucte.d of not smaller than eleven and one-half (llk) gauge, <br /> steel chain link fencing attached to not smaller than one and <br /> one-half (IA) inch diameter, steel poles placed at least thirty <br /> (30) inches in the ground and anchored in concrete. Fencing <br /> sh 11 be placed on the interior side of the steel poles and shall <br /> be attached firmly to the poles by means of steel wire ties <br /> spiced not more than one (1) foot apart and which are tied secure- <br /> ly round the full circumference of the poles. <br /> Fencing shall be at least eight (8) feet in height and shall be <br /> elejetrified at the bottom and the top of the enclosure by a single <br /> insulated wire strand running the full circumference of the en- <br /> cloure. <br /> b. Se /0.ration of Enclosures. Secondary enclosures shall not have <br /> any common wall with any primary enclosure. The spacing between <br /> the primary enclosure and the secondary enclosure shall be a <br /> minimum of six (6) feet. <br /> c. Safet Doors Re uired. A safety door shall be provided for secon- <br /> dary enclosures and shall have a separate padlock. <br /> 3. Variation From Standards. Variation from these standards shall be <br /> permitted where, based on initial inspections, it is found that en- <br /> closures, with slight modifications, can confine the animals in a <br /> safe an humane manner. <br /> 4. Structu,al Integrity To Be Maintained. All primary and secondary en- <br /> closures shall be designed, constructed and maintained so that no <br /> foreseeable event or series of events shall break the structural in- <br /> tegrity of the primary and secondary enclosures. <br /> inumeameemeemeese <br />
