stated that APS could make recommendations to the Board on the feasibility of a County- <br /> wide dog control ordinance and that this issue should not be considered along with <br /> wild and exotic animals. She requested the County Attorney to research 1) penalties <br /> that could be placed on those who violate an animal control ordinance and 2) the <br /> question of "grandfatbering" of any animals already in the County if an ordinance <br /> regulating such wild animals is enacted. <br /> Commissioner Willhoit moved., seconded by Commissioner Walker, to approve <br /> the Manager's recommendation # 8, that is, "The North Carolina General Assembly <br /> should be requested to consider more extensive legislation which,will, apply state- <br /> wide. An expanded role for the State should be encouraged." Vote: Ayes, 5; noes, <br /> 0. The number, species (Common and bin- <br /> name and location of the animals as well as the owner or possessor's name <br /> and address should be provided;" the motion continues to exclnclP those animals used <br /> by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for resPPrch and/or teaching pur- <br /> poses.
