The possession or harboring of the animal <br /> is not in violation of any local, state <br /> or federal regulations other than this <br /> Ordinance. <br /> ARTICLE III <br /> WILD AND DANGEROUS ANIMALS RUNNING AT LARGE <br /> 3 .1 <br /> RUNNING AT LARGE PROHIBITED. It shall be <br /> unlawful for any person possessing or <br /> harboring a wild and dangerous animal to <br /> allow, intentionally or negligently, such <br /> animal to run at large. <br /> 3 . 2 1 APPREHENSION OF ANIMALS RUNNING AT LARGE. Any <br /> wild and dangerous animal rune ng at large <br /> shall be apprehended by officers of the County <br /> Animal Control Department, County Dog Warden <br /> or by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources <br /> Commission and be confined in a suitable place <br /> at the direction of such department. <br /> 3 .3 <br /> DESTRUCTION OF ANIMALS RUNNING AT LARGE. Any <br /> wild and dangerous animal running at large may <br /> be destroyed by officers of the County Animal <br /> Control Department, County Dog Warden, the <br /> North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission <br /> or by any law enforcement officers, if in the <br /> opinion of such officers on the scene the <br /> animal presents a clear and immediate danger <br /> to human life, or if the animal cannot be <br /> apprehended and is fleeing the scene, or, if <br /> it appears that the animal cannot be <br /> apprehended without endangering human life or <br /> inhumanely causing the suffering to the <br /> animal . <br /> ARTICLE IV <br /> ENFORCEMENT <br /> 4. 1 • <br /> RESPONSIBILITY FOR ENFORCEMENT. It shall be <br /> the responsibility of the County Animal <br /> Control Department or the County Dog Warden or <br /> the North Carolina Wildlife Resources <br /> Commission to enforce the provisions of this <br /> Ordinance .
