ARTICLE II <br /> POSSESSING AND HARBORING WILD AND DANGEROUS <br /> ANIMALS REGULATED <br /> 2 . 1. <br /> REQUIREMENTS FOR KEEPING WILD AND DANGEROUS <br /> ANIMALS . It shall be unlawful for any person <br /> to possess or harbor a wild and dangerous <br /> animal in Craven County unless the following <br /> conditions are met: <br /> a. The owner has provided a double enclosure <br /> system for confining the animal, the <br /> inner enclosure being a cage as herein <br /> defined, and the outer enclosure being a <br /> fence which secures all sides top and <br /> bottom from entry and egress constructed <br /> out of metal no less than 11 1/2 gauge. <br /> Each enclosure shall have a separate <br /> individual entrance gate and be so <br /> constructed that the outer fence is no <br /> closer than one (1) foot to the inner <br /> cage at any point. Both enclosures shall <br /> possess a common roof and common floor. <br /> Said enclosures shall meet at least the <br /> minimum specifications and requirements <br /> of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources <br /> Commission except where the requirements <br /> provide herein are greater, in which case <br /> the greater requirements shall be meet. <br /> b. Adequate safeguards are provided to <br /> prevent the unauthorized access to such <br /> animal by members of the public and said <br /> enclosures shall be kept securely <br /> locked. <br /> c. The enclosure in which such animal is <br /> kept or confined is adequately lighted <br /> and ventilated and is so constructed that <br /> it may be kept in a clean and sanitary <br /> condition and that the health or well- <br /> being of the animal is not otherwise <br /> endangered by the manner of confinement. <br /> d. The manner of keeping the animal will not <br /> create or cause offensive odors or <br /> constitute a danger to the public health. <br /> 3 <br />
