Exem tp ions. <br /> The rovisions�of this ordinance shall not apply to the keeping of wild <br /> or dangerous animals in the following cases, provided, all such facilities <br /> are in co[ pliance with applicable federal, state or local rules and regulations: <br /> (1) The Intern© <br /> of such animals in Federally (USDA and Department.of <br /> the Interior) or State (N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission) licensed <br /> zoos, education or medical institutions, museums or an other flr <br /> where they are kept as live specimens for the public <br /> the purpose of instruction or study. <br /> _ (2) The keeping of such animals for exhibition to the public of such <br /> animals by a circus, carnival or other exhibit or show did d, <br /> that in the Dir'ector's opinion, adequate measures to prove <br /> ' public safety and animal welfare are taken. ' <br /> Sect .on 5. Wild and Dan_etous Animals At Large Prohibited <br /> It shall be unlawful for any wild or dangerous animal to be off the <br /> premises approved for confinement of the animal or off the premises where it <br /> is kept and maintained without written permission of the Director, except for <br /> transport n a secure, humane manner. It shall be the duty of the permittee or <br /> the personl who keeps and/or maintains the animal to care'for the animal at all <br /> times and paintain confinement as provided in the cage size standards contained <br /> in Appends A.
