Since there is =.
no requirement t eat vate meet w,
p airports be developed to melt FM : ;?:-.
standards, we would not want our corents to have an adverse affect ,:
on the devel;apmejit of a private airport. The FAA standards are, of
course, available for reference if a private developer desires to
cr,►sJrr his facility to meet
tY appropriate standards. only .:.,
requirement FM has regarding privately owned airports is that a
Notice of Proposed Constructi:.on, be filed with the FAA. This has
been acccplished by the proponent. The result of the airspace
determination is shown on the enclosed letter of December 11, 1980.
The recently planned 1400-foot extension for a total of 5000 feet
received a si 1Ar airport determination.
'"
The use of FAA d4sign. standards is required when the airport is 4.:
being constructed with federal aid. Similarly, if an airport is .-,;
constructed with private funds and future plans include converting it ,''
to a publicly-awned facility, with the intent of obtaining future .`' ,f
federal aid, it d be desirable to plan and construct it in i,
accordance with MI-standards. If a proponent should ask our
recommendations fpr development of a privately owned airport we
would reconmend that the FM standards be utilized. `::
Y,_'
Our r- nts on Te plan are as follows:
1. We agree with cats made by Mr. Bruce Mat-thews of the State ' ---
of North Carolina in his letter of January 26, 1982. We would
reccume d that current standards for runway separation, etc. , be ,,;-.
applied if possible.
;.a
2. The report indicates FAA approved of the development, hordever, - ;i
this only relates to oi,-space affects as shown in enclosed letter, . .
'
