Manager' Office <br /> . <br /> Phone Number: 132-8181 ext 501 <br /> PURPG6E: To consid4r approving an agreement between the ABC Board,the County, and the <br /> Sheriff whereby the County would provide ABC law enforcement as a contract <br /> service of the Sheriff Department, <br /> NEED: Authoriza ion for such contracting is conferred by North Carolina General <br /> Statute C apter 188. Discussions between the ABC Board and Sheriff have <br /> resulted in terms and a cost-for-service amount being agreed upon. The <br /> amount as umes transfer of 3 positions, 2 vehicles, and equipment which <br /> would be returned to the ABC were the agreement cancelled by either party. <br /> Initial contracting period is proposed for six months with annual renewals <br /> thereafter to coincide with the fiscal year, <br /> IMPACT: Proposed payment for the enforcement is $52,800. Attached budget, compiled <br /> by the Finance Department,verifies that actual cost would match the sum <br /> proposed with no margin for any unforeseen expenses. <br /> Budgeting nd auditing, if the agreement is approved, would be by means of <br /> separate a count codes from the Sheriff's regular chart of accounts to avoid <br /> co-minglin problems. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Approve attached agreement which has been revised by the County Attorney and <br /> authorize he Chairman to sign. <br />
