. . , <br /> page 3 of 9 <br /> . ,. <br /> WHEREAp, it is the desire of these agencies that the <br /> previously established continuing, comprehensive, cooperative <br /> transportation planning process as set forth in a Memorandum <br /> of Understanding dated June 30, 1965, be revised and updated <br /> to comply with the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1973, and the <br /> United States Department of Transportation Order No. 1130.2 <br /> and FederallHighway Administration Policy and Procedure <br /> Memorandum 50-11 dated September 21, 1973 (copies of both <br /> are attached) , the following Memorandum of Understanding is <br /> made. <br /> Sectio 1. It is hereby agreed that the CITY OF DURHAM, <br /> COUNT? OF- DORHAM, and the NORTH CAROLINA BOARD OF TRANSPORTATION <br /> in cooperation with the UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION <br /> will participate in a continuing transportation planning process <br /> with responsibilities and undertakings as related in the <br /> following p ragraphs: <br /> 1. Tile area involved, the Durham Urban Transportation <br /> Study Planning Area, will be the Durham Urbanized <br /> A. ea as defined by the United States Department of <br /> Clmmerce, Bureau of the Census, plus that area be- <br /> yond the existing urbanized area boundary that is <br /> expected to become urbanized within a twenty year <br /> p anning period. This area is hereinafter referred <br /> t. as the Planning Area. <br /> 2. e projected planning area boundary will be <br /> ,- - <br /> pe iodically reassessed and revised in the light <br /> of new developments and basic data projections <br /> fo. the current planning period. <br /> 3. The continuing transportation planning process <br /> wi11 be a cooperative one and all planning dis- <br /> cutsions will be reflective of and responsive <br /> tolthe program of the Board of Transportation, <br /> and to the comprehensive plans for growth and <br /> detelopment of the City of Durham, County of <br /> Du ham, and Triangle "J" Council of Governments . <br /> 1 <br /> 4.
