ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: February 16, 2006 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. <br />SUBJECT: Efland-Mebane Small Area Plan Task Force <br />DEPARTMENT: Planning <br />PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />Status Report <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Craig Benedict, 245-2592 <br />Perdita Holtz, 245-2611 <br />PURPOSE: To update the Board of Commissioners on progress of the Efland-Mebane Small <br />Area Plan Task Farce. <br />BACKGROUND: The Efland-Mebane Small Area Plan Task Force was created in December <br />2004. <br />The Efland/Mebane Small Area Plan Task Force was charged with developing a small area <br />plan to address conditions in the area or and to update the goals and objectives included in the <br />1991 Study. <br />Questions and recommendations will be forthcoming regarding: <br />• development pattern, <br />• community character and farm, <br />• demand for additional infrastructure, <br />• Transition Areas adjustments, <br />• economic development potential, and <br />• role of Mebane <br />Recommendations made by the Task Force will be incorporated into a final report to be <br />prepared by the Orange County Planning Staff, reviewed by the Task Force, and forwarded to <br />the Board of County Commissioners. Recommendations, where appropriate, will be <br />incorporated into the Draft Orange County Comprehensive Plan Land Use Element, Orange <br />County Zoning Atlas and/or text, and Orange County Subdivision Regulations. <br />Recommendations from the plan can be accepted by resolution and then action implementation <br />strategies incorporated in upcoming land use, zoning and subdivision rule changes. <br />The attached status report notates the meetings that have been conducted already and identify <br />future meetings that are anticipated to complete the draft report. The BOCC will receive a <br />briefing on the draft report prior to conducting some scheduled community outreach. The <br />schedules show some approximate time frames far BOCC review. <br />
