H <br /> Tax Supervisor <br /> I d formation Contact: Roscoe Reeve <br /> Attlatent(s) : copy of proposed Land Records Manager <br /> Ordinance <br /> Phan= Number: 732-8181 Ext 375 <br /> • <br /> Purpose: This ordinance will officially implement the Parcel Identifier <br /> Number (PIN) Index of the Land Records System by requiring the <br /> assignment of the PIN to each land document recorded in the Register <br /> of Deeds office and to each recorded plat or map. <br /> Need: The Land Records System creates a master file of land <br /> data in the County's public records, by the assignment of a <br /> unique parcel identifier to each property in Orange County. <br /> The use of PIN as an indexing key of the Register of Deeds <br /> Office means the property document must contain an accurate <br /> description of the property so that the correct PIN can be <br /> assigned to the document. This requires the correct assignment <br /> of PIN before recording takes place. <br /> Irpact: This ordinance will change the procedure for the recording <br /> of land documents in the Register of Deeds Office in Orange <br /> County, in that the person(s) recording such a document must <br /> take that document first to the Land Records Office for PIN <br /> assignment and must have a parcel description on their document <br /> of such clarity and accuracy that it can be located on Orange <br /> County's property maps. <br /> This will greatly improve the accuracy and availability of <br /> property records and information for the citizens of Orange Coun . <br /> RcocaroDndak.ion(s) : That the Board of Commissioners adopt the attached <br /> ordinance to imnlement the Land Records System <br /> pursuant to N.C.
