Hickory Hills Subdivision) <br /> De- 64 - t: Planning <br /> [Pdblic yes x no I <br /> .......--- <br /> Attzmimment(e): MAP Inforamtion Contact: Ritic cannity <br /> P1 limbar: 732-8181 EXT. 347 <br /> ----------------- <br /> PURPOSE: TO consider rescinding a condition placed on the preliminary plat approval <br /> for BrittonIwocds Subdivision. <br /> 1 <br /> NEED: The Board of Commissioners approval the preliminary plat for Britton Weeds <br /> on the condition that the subdivision be included in one fire district. <br /> It is presently split by the line between South Orange and Orange Grove <br /> fire departments. During the discussion about this division, the Staff <br /> was unable tio tell the Board the process for changing the fire district <br /> boundaries. 1 The Staff has learned that the process includes petitioning <br /> both districts and approval by both Boards of Directors of the fire dis- <br /> tricts. Oneiother point discovered by Staff is that the tax levy collected <br /> rom split percles is not divided between the districts but is paid in total <br /> to only one district. In this case, the taxes go to the South Orange Fire <br /> District. <br /> DIENCT: Staff feels that since the tax levy goes to only one district, that district <br /> should be responsible for providing fire protection. In this case, south <br /> Orange receives the money and is also the closest fire station (3.5 miles <br /> Vs 7+ miles). 1Thus, it should be the protection provider. The Staff will <br /> be developing h policy for Board to approval to deal with this situation in <br /> the future. ! <br /> RFEOLMMENDIMON: Staff reccuuends removal of the condition that the applicant have <br /> fire district lines moved so that the entire subdivision lies in <br /> one fire district. <br /> 1 • <br />
