The act of adoption formalized the Plan text and map as
County policy in land use matters. The Plan will need to be amended from time to
time to reflect changing conditions in the County. The attached procedures
set forth the process by Which the Plan can be amended.
DIPACT: Adoption of the proposed procedures will separate a rezoning request from
an associated Plan amendment after September 1983 and overcome the technical
difficulties the Planning Board has experienced in recommending on this kind of
dual request. The proposed procedures will also prevent "piecemeal" amendment of
the Plan through the requirement that the Plan may only be amended once a year
after September 2, 1983.
4
RECOMMENDATION: The Planning Staff originally proposed that the following language be
included in the proposed procedures:
CATEGORIES OF AMENDMENTS
Amendments are classified as principal or secondary amendments. principal
amendments include:
a) additions to or modifications of goals and policies;
b) creation of new activity nodes or additions to existing node areas
exceeding 10 acres;
c) proposals for new freestanding plan areas or additions to existing areas
that exceed 100 acres.
page 1 of 2
•
