t)CS 4 <br /> Y0{U <br /> MINUTES <br /> OCTOBER 11, 1982 <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Monday, <br /> October 11, 1982, at 7:30 P.M, in the Agricultural Extension Service's Offices <br /> on Court Street, Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br /> Commissioners present: Chairman Richard E. Whitted, and Commissioners Norm <br /> Gustavesun, Shirley E. Marshall and Don Willhoit. <br /> Commissioners absent: Commissioner Norman Walker. <br /> The purpose of the special meeting was toreceive reports from the Staff <br /> of the Agricultural Extension Division and the Agricultural Extension Advisory <br /> Council. <br /> Mr. George Corbett, Chair of the Agricultural Advisory Council (hereafter <br /> referred to as "Council") welcomed the Commissioners and introduced those <br /> members of the Council who were present (Mr. Richard Roberts, Ms. Lynette <br /> Jeffries, Dr, Jeffrey Mazza and Ms. Marie Tnrain, who arrived late). <br /> Chairman Whitted introduced those members of the Board of Commissioners who <br /> were present and County Staff (County Manager, Ken Thompson, and Clerk to the <br /> Board, Paulette Pridgen-Pond). <br /> Mr. Ebert Pierce, County Extension Chairman, introduced members of the Staff <br /> who would present their reports and those who deserved special recognition ( <br /> (Ms. Scott and Ms, Terrell for their work in the nutrition program with Ms. <br /> Bonnie Davis). <br /> AGRICULTURE REPORT: <br /> Mr, Dave Warren presented that portion of the Agriculture Report dealing <br /> with agronomy and disease control and his work plan, to implement those programs, <br /> Mr. Ronnie Warren presented that portion of the Agriculture Report dealing with <br /> animal husbandry, forestry and corn and soybean production. <br /> 4-H REPORT: <br /> Mr. Ervin Taylor presented an overview of 4-H Program aims, while Ms. <br /> Mary Fanning focused on special projects of a variety of 4-H Clubs. Ms. Jakie <br /> Green reported on one 4-H Club recently formed for those youths who are mentally <br /> and/or developmentally retarded. All three staff members emphasized the <br /> dependence on volunteers and contributions made by volunteers to the 4-H <br />
