Orange County should adopt a policy which,calls to minimizing_Sptnt <br /> outflows of water from one mair basin to another- <br /> PLANNING BOARD ACTION: <br /> Kizer motioned that the Board of Commissioners adopt recoam:endaion <br /> number one of the Water Task Force. Wilson seconded . Notion carried <br /> with one abstention by Ms, Gordon. <br /> 2. Orange County should allocate the water it has rights over in Lake <br /> ()Tanga to the Town of Hillsborough, the Orange-Alamance Water Systems <br /> incorporated, and the in-stream flow needs of the Eno River. <br /> PLANNING BOARD ACTION: <br /> Kizer motioned approval of the second recommendation of the Water <br /> Task Force. Cleary seconded, Notion carried with four in favor, <br /> three against, Bacon and Laszlo abstained. <br /> 3. Orange County should develop policies requiring water conservation in <br /> both the receiving and withdrawal basins where interbasin transfers pf <br /> water are required to meet emergency situations. <br /> PLANNING BOARD ACTION: <br /> Kizer motioned approval of the recommendation. Laszlo seconded, Approved <br /> unanimously, <br /> 4. The Task Force Report has identified five prime reservoir sites in thr, <br /> County. Local water suppliers should identify which of these sites <br /> they would like preserved for future use. The County and water suppliers <br /> should work together to implement means of protecting and preservinh. <br /> these sites for future use, <br /> PLANNING BOARD ACTION: <br /> Kizer motion that recommendation number four be accepted but that in <br /> addition sites seventeen and eighteen shown on the watershed ma and <br /> discussed in the report on pages 26-30 be included as protected sites. <br /> These sites are on the north and south forks of the Little River, Irvin <br /> seconded. Ayes: Kizer, Gordon, Cleary, Harris, Wilson, Laszlo, Irvin. <br /> Noes: None, Abstentions: Lunsford. <br /> 5, Orange County should investigate the feasibility of a regional solution <br /> EFTET-17uture water needs. As part of that effort, Orange County should <br /> reserve a portion of the water allocation from Jordan Lake as a long <br /> term option for water supply. <br /> PLANNING BOARD ACTION: <br /> Irvin moved approval of this recommendation, Kizer seconded, Carried <br /> unanimously. <br /> 6.
