4 e <br /> Pg.2 <br /> STREET - A way for vehiCular traffic whether designated. <br /> as a street, highway, thoroughfare, parl:way, throughway, free- <br /> way, road, avenue boulevard, land, place or however otherwis,-, <br /> designated. <br /> STREET, ARTERIAL - A street connecting widely separated <br /> areas and designed to carry a large volume of traffic which may <br /> be fast, heavy or both. Arterial streets are sometimes referred-- <br /> to as "major-thoroughfares" "freeways" , "e;cpressways" , etc, . and <br /> are usually numbered State or Federal Highways. <br /> STREET,COLLECTOR - A street which carries traffic from <br /> minor streets to the major systems of arteri I streets, including <br /> the principle entrance streets of a residential development and <br /> streets for circulation within such a development. Collector <br /> streets may also be referred to as "connector" or "feeder" streets. <br /> STREET, LOCAL - Local street is used or designed primarily <br /> to provide access to abutting proecrites. It serves as the conriec: <br /> ing road system between other roads wiWn a subdivie:ion and .Ehe <br /> thoroughfareelystem. It also serves or Asdesignedit° serve at <br /> least ten but not mo than twenty five dwelling unifS and is ax <br /> to or does handle between seventy five and two nundred trips pe <br /> day. <br /> STREET ,LOOP - Loop streep is used as a means fe,r local <br /> traffic to leave and enter other stroe:es without turrd r aroulTd7, <br /> but provides access only to abutting properties_ Thee-. streets <br /> arn less than one mile in length and have.no collectcyr ca-Eiract7i. <br /> tics. <br /> STREET, MARGINAL ACCESS - A minor street which is parallel <br /> to and adjacent to arterial streets, and which provides access to <br /> abutting properties and protection from through traffic. Marginal <br /> access streets may also be referred to as "service roads." <br /> SUBDIVIDER. - Any person or persons, firm or corporation sub- <br /> dividing land within the jurisdiction of this ordinance. <br /> SUBDIVISION - A"subdivision" shall include all divi- <br /> sions of a tract or parcel of land into tow or more lots, building <br /> sites, or other divisions, for the purpose, whether immediate or <br /> fW.IJre, of sale °rebuilding development.■, and shall include all <br /> divisions of land involving the dedication of a new street or a <br /> change in existing streets; provided, however, that the following <br /> shall not be included within this definition nor be subject to the <br /> regulations authorized by this article: (1) the combination or <br /> recombination of portions of previously platted lots where the <br /> Lot al number of lots is not increased and the resultant lots arc <br /> equal to or exceed the standards of Orange County as shown in its <br /> s6bdivision ordinance; (2) the division of land into parcels <br /> greater than ten acres where no street right-Of-way dedication is <br /> involved; (3) the public acquisition by purchase of strips of <br /> land for the widening or operning of streets; (4) the division <br /> of a tract in single ownership whose entire area is no greater <br /> than two acres into not more than three lots, where no streets <br />
